Quantum Physics and the Bottom Line

Quantum Physics research is making headlines with findings about the power of our mind. This isn’t news to some, but to others—those who need everything quantified with research—it is startling.

How do quantum physics affect the bottom line? Simple. What you believe it what you get. (Henry Ford is attributed to saying something like this in the early 20th century). As a CEO, you may be saying, “Hey, I know I’ll be successful. So what’s the point?”

If you have negative, resistant, and/or victim-mentality employees, what are they doing to help you grow and prosper, or more appropriately, what are they doing to undermine your success? What kind of impact will teams or individuals have, if they are not commonly aligned, and identically focused?

Your whole organization needs to be mission-oriented with a positive outlook; one that believes in the vision that leadership has. Otherwise, low productivity, absenteeism, and turnover result. These are the hidden costs of not having a unified workforce.

Back to quantum physics… What can we learn from the latest research about the effect our mind has on our reality?

Let’s begin with a study that took subjects and hooked their brains up to a brain scan. They showed pictures of objects and recorded which parts of the brain were activated. They then asked the subjects to only imagine the same objects. Yes, the same parts of the brain were activated. Though more detailed than just described, this proved that our brain doesn’t know the difference between imagination and the real thing.

If you’re imagining negative experiences, you’re having them. If you’re with others who are easily influenced, your negativity may affect them. If you think work is awful (whether it is or not), you’re having a miserable time at work.

How can this affect the workforce? Think about your company’s mission. You know it so clearly and believe in it with all of your being. But you’ve got a few hundred people working for you, many of whom are just showing up at work for their paycheck. They don’t really care whether or not your business succeeds. (They say they do, but it’s only their paycheck that they’re worried about—not your vision).

What kind of productivity results from these types of workers? How would that differ if your whole company had excited unified leaders and employees? Can you see how productivity zooms upward when you’ve got people who really believe in your focus?

Those dissatisfied workers, who only show up for their check, are using their brains in counter-productive ways. (“Can’t wait to get home and watch reality TV.” Isn’t it Friday, yet?” “Monday, again, so soon? I’ve got a headache just being here.”) If they are not enthused and motivated to swim together in a team effort, their distracting thoughts are getting in the way of their productivity and your bottom line.

There are many more studies that prove the power of our minds, and our capabilities to create what we want by our intentionality and our focus. Google Quantum Physics and read some of the articles, or go rent the movie, What the Bleep Do We Know?. These sources will help you understand the importance of aligning the right people to support your vision and purpose in the world.

In the meantime, what can you do to assure your people are unified and commonly focused on your company’s objectives?

Assessments can help, as can asking simple questions and noticing the responses you get. Making your workplace an inviting, fun, supportive place to work will also help. (Your people will want to come to work here). Lastly, bringing your employees together by providing unique and unifying programs that build the team atmosphere (and allow the “dead-wood” to leave as a result) can have a positive, lasting affect on your bottom line.
